Kathryn McKinzie, LCSW
Licensed Clinical social worker
West Linn Office
Kate is a compassionate and experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been dedicated to supporting individuals and couples since the early 1990s. Originally from the Midwest, she earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work along with a Gerontology Certificate from Tulane University in New Orleans.
Kate has extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, working with individuals and couples navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, addiction, and relationship challenges. She has a particular passion for couples counseling, helping partners strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and deepen emotional connection. Kate works collaboratively with couples to better understand one another, navigate conflict more effectively, and create more secure, fulfilling relationships.
In addition to her work with couples, Kate brings specialized knowledge in aging and life transitions, supporting older adults and their families as they navigate complex emotional, relational, and caregiving dynamics.
She is deeply committed to creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel seen, heard, and understood. Her approach integrates decades of clinical experience with evidence-based practices, helping clients identify patterns, build on their strengths, and move toward meaningful and lasting change.
Outside of her clinical work, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband, Scott, playing bridge, walking with their two dogs, Bertha and Alfie, and visiting her children and grandchildren. She is also an active volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association, advocating for individuals and families impacted by dementia. In her free time, Kate is a self-taught oil painter who enjoys capturing a variety of subjects, with a special talent for dog portraits.
